(Postcard from Sydney) – A Time of Gifts; 3 Amazing Things I have Learnt Travelling
I’ve been travelling our blue planet since I was 10 years old, when my family set off on a ship from Australia to England for a year exploring there. And I’ve never really stopped since.
Travel is such a powerful experience, and it is the background of all I do. I’m always on the road seeing people in different countries, and anyone joining me for a private retreat has found they need to travel too to join me. For I run private retreats in breath-takingly beautiful areas, like Avalon in Sydney, Provence and Bali. For the location adds something very special and powerful to the retreat transformation, something that cannot happen in one’s home town. Everyone who has joined me for one of these has also said that traveling to a different and often new location, added so much for them.
For travelling can be, as Patrick Leigh Fermor wrote, ‘a time of gifts’.
As I was thinking over all my travel this year I began to see some of the amazing things I have learnt on the road. And. as with all learnt gifts, some of them seemed a challenge at first but then underneath I found something amazing and life-changing. The skills and understandings I have been lucky enough to uncover have then helped me in all areas of my life – in work, relationships and confidence to live my dreams.
So today I have decided to share 3 most amazing ones for me with you here.
I was on the north beaches of Sydney this week, so the backdrop is beautiful, remote Avalon beach (with camera held by my friend Anna). Enjoy!
