(Bushfire Vlog) On Surviving Times of Sudden Change & Challenge
For the last three weeks, I’ve been caught up in the bushfires in Australia. It was a very intense way to start 2020.
So today I wanted to share what it felt like as this sudden midnight bushfire rushed down on us, and after…
It all began on 31st December with a large bushfire began burning closer to the valley (south east coast of NSW) where my family and friends live. My father and I rushed to try and protect their place in case it came their way the next day – blocking downpipes, flooding gutters, clearing dry leaves under a grey-red sky. Reports said there would be no danger till the next day, but in the middle of the night it all changed, and with no warning the fire suddenly jumped 40 km and was racing wildly towards us and everyone in the valley.
No-one expected it to be that quick, nor so out of control. The flames were leaping twice the height of the 60′ gum trees on the hills above my parents’ place, many places too dangerous for the fire-fighters to fight.
Then I said we had to get out of there, immediately! It is incredible to see one’s body kicks with adrenaline and clarity to take fast action to get one to safety in times like this.
We escaped to the evacuation centre in a nearby town, but that was just the start of our journey…
Sudden change can come into all our lives in many ways.
Sometimes it may be a change we have been looking for, one we may want to happen, or like in these fires, it can came tearing unexpectedly into your life from the outside, and for many people, life may never be the same again.
Whether we are looking for change or not, for our bodies it is always intense, and our reactions in it are primal, so understanding these helps.
After going through the fires for the last three weeks I wanted to share some of my experience with you, some of the deeps reactions I felt in me and saw in others during it, and ways that I used to help my body handle this and other times of challenge or change, so you have ones you could use to keep some your inner balance during change or challenge.
Have you been through times of sudden change or challenge recently, or maybe there were ones in the past that you still see /feel the affects of?
If you did, how was it for you, and what did you find helped you through it? And what changed for you after?
I would love to hear below this video, or in a message.
And of course, feel free to share this video with a friend going through a time of sudden change who might find this helpful.
With love,
Cassandra Punita
P.S. If you like to discover ways to find more inner ease this year, so you can feel grounded, strong and happy in yourself, whatever events are happening around you – then watch this video to the end (it’s not very long) as there I’m sharing there something I’m offering over the next two weeks…
