Postcard from Bali – Unique Modern Communities
How can we live in flow easily?…It’s a question so many of ask ourselves often, and for me one one element seems more and more essential. It’s a way way of living that I have found can make all the difference.
The difference is the community we live in. A new type, with like–minded people. The interests they may have in common could be entrepreneurs, a unique lifestyle, life-view, sport or environmental.). These will be the Modern Intentional Communities. And interestingly, more and more people seem to be interested in this possibility too.
However, most of us still live in accidental communities – villages, cities and work places, where the people around us came by chance and may not have the same passions and priorities as us.
Since I have been back in Bali, I am seeing components of the modern version of this idea everywhere I am – from spending time in Balinese tradition extended family compounds where their communal working spaces, wells and family temple are interspersed between small private living spaces, to exploring ideas of new eco and 3D printed building options in intentional communities with colleagues at the entrepreneur’s conference I just attended.
So today I wanted to explore this with you from a unique and surprising community that was created over 40 years ago, yet has many of the components people are looking to include in modern intentional communities.
I hope this inspires you to explore if you would like to live in a like-minded community, and if so what it would look like?
Do share below, I would love to hear you thoughts on this!
