How to Surf a Typhoon – Inspire’d Talk, London
Really? ………What is that about? And why would I want to try?
Stay with me, this may sounds strange at first but there is a meaning in it for all of us.
Sometimes life can feel like a typhoon, with towering waves and howling winds tossing us around. Like we are at the mercy of outside forces and cant find our centre and balance again.
Yet there are ways to surf all the ‘waves’ of life, and this can change everything!
For then we can not only survive, but even enjoy the challenging bits of the journey, finding an easier way through all that life tosses us. Whether it tranquil lapping waves, or wild and overwhelming ones.
In my early 20’s I sailed the Pacific ocean where, by accident, we ended up sailing through the eye of a huge and wild super typhoon. It was terrifying and very dangerous. We were lucky. We survived, and sailed out the other side….
And it was as we sailed out of it that something incredible happened – which changed my view of the world forever!
It let me seeking a new path, and eventually, to the work I do now…..

Then in July this year I was invited to speak at The Inspire’d Stage – Personal Leadership ‘TED’ Talks – in London, by the lovely founders Shay & Ayman. So I decided to speak on How to Surf a Typhoon, exploring this theme in all our lives, sharing the life changing experience I had as we sailed out of this typhoon and how some of my clients have found this approach changed their lives too.
